The Brexit in Varese: how it affects the economy and what are the steps to be addressed

Internationalization

With a value of about 650 million euros per year, the trade between the United Kingdom and the Varese is fundamental. Thus embracing the changes imposed by Brexit is key not only for the competitiveness of companies, but also for the excellent trade relations.

The economic exchanges between Varese and the United Kingdom, every year, are worth about 650 million euros, a considerable figure in which the needle of the balance tends decidedly in favor of exports by more than double. It is therefore undoubtedly important to safeguard trade relations with companies across the Channel at this time of strong changes due to the exit of the European Union by the United Kingdom.

Since January 1st of this year, the free movement of people, goods, services and capital between Italy and the UK has come to an end, but the “Soft Brexit” agreement guarantees the absence of duties and quotas for goods. As far as customs procedures are concerned, the statement of origin, valid for twelve months, must be filled in by the exporter of the goods and reported on an invoice or any other document describing the product in a way that allows it to be identified.

In order to shed light on the new dynamics generated by Brexit and on the necessary documents for export, the Chamber of Commerce of Varese has organized a theoretical-practical webinar that will be held on Wednesday, January 27, focused in particular on the customs and tax aspects to be taken into account. In any case, the Lombardia Point service is active, to be contacted for information, training activities and in-depth analysis on the subject; as well as the Foreign Trade Desk, available for the issue of the certificates necessary for exportation.

The participation to the interactive online seminar is free of charge. Further information on the website of the Chamber of Commerce Varese www.va.camcom.it, in the section “Conferences and Seminars”.
