New MADE IN GREEN by OEKO-TEX® standard: new requirements and focus on transparency

Internationalization

The objective of the MADE IN GREEN label is a 100% traceable supply chain.
To ensure transparent traceability for buyers and end consumers, the supply chain of a MADE IN GREEN by OEKO-TEX® label shall cover all production steps (from spinning to making up) including the origin of raw materials and chemicals.

The road to total transparency

The first step towards 100% transparency was taken by introducing in the new Standard, which came into force on 1 April 2021, the obligation to include at least three components for finished products or one component for semi-finished products in your supply chain. More details can be found in the MIG standard, chapter 4.3.3 and 4.3.3.2 which can be downloaded from https://www.oeko-tex.com/en/downloads.

A new document to support the creation of the supply chain

In the past, Annex 4 of the Standard was a key element in understanding the requirements for each type of article. As of 1 April 2021, it will be replaced by a more extensive and detailed document which can be downloaded separately MADE_IN_GREEN_by_OEKO-TEX_Implementation_examples.pdf (avenit-prod.de).

New for Label Check

Another requirement in the new standard is that each MADE IN GREEN label must be generated with a professional image/photo of the product attached. This picture will be publicly visible in the “Label Check” section of www.oeko-tex.com (see MIG standard, chapter 4.3.3.2).

New Pendant Graphics

In terms of graphics, a new pendant MADE IN GREEN by OEKO-TEX® has been developed.

The new version will replace the current one that can be downloaded from the myOEKO-TEX® platform as of 1 April 2021. All pendants downloaded by 31.03.21 can still be used until the MADE IN GREEN label is renewed.
