ISO 14021:2016: a standard to clarify environmental statements
There is no doubt that many certifications are available to companies to demonstrate their sustainability efforts. If the company wants to demonstrate its own peculiarity, which has not yet found its own reference certification, it can rely on the UNI EN ISO 14021:2016 standard. This standard concerns self-declared environmental assertions, or type II, made by companies for their products or processes and provides that a company can declare an environmental characteristic and that this can then be validated by a third party body. The purpose of the standard, as defined within it, is to give a guarantee of reliability in a world where environmental labels proliferate without a real criterion.
