Within the C-TEX project, Centrocot is carrying out with 35 companies a free check-up of the needs of companies in the Textile Clothing Fashion sector in the Lombardy region regarding the circular economy. The purpose of the service is to support companies in the transition to the circular economy, to identify their strengths and weaknesses with a pragmatic approach, starting from the concrete needs of the actors in the sector.

In the Italian and European panorama of the transition towards the Circular Economy, some key points common to all industrial sectors can be identified, such as:
– Reducing the use of resources, from decreasing the amount̀ of material used in making a product or providing a service to eco-design, focusing on sharing models and the development of digitalization;
– lengthening resource use, optimizing the use of resources and increasing product life through durable design, the use of materials and services that extend the life of goods, reuse, repair and remanufacturing;
– use of regenerative raw materials, replacing fossil fuels and non-renewable materials with renewable energy and materials;
– reuse of resources, with the recycling of waste or scrap and their reuse as secondary raw materials.

As part of the “Circular Textiles” project, co-financed by the Lombardy Region (FashionTech Call for Proposals) through the Regional Operational Program 2014-2020, a survey is underway on the cognitive, training and technological needs that companies in the Textile Clothing Fashion sector currently express with regard to the transition towards circularity in the Lombardy industry.

In order to support companies in a crucial moment for them, activities are being carried out, with the companies that have joined the call, to
– promote and gather interest from companies in the sector through customized company check-ups to detect needs related to the circular economy.
– Identify specific services to be provided to companies in order to analyze the strengths and weaknesses of companies and suggest actions to be taken to enhance the innovative capabilities in the Circular Economy.
The services hypothesized, and that have been confirmed by the companies interviewed, aim to
– introduce techniques and methods that favor the reduction of waste in the Textile Clothing Fashion industry in order to valorize/transform processing waste into resources and secondary raw materials;
– improve the processes of reuse and recycling of materials and textile products at the end of life with the aim of preventing the consumption of non-renewable resources, in a logic of innovation for sustainability;
– Provide companies with regulatory, procedural and legal bases to deal with the management of industrial waste, by-products and waste;
– support companies in their continuous improvement, also through the evaluation of the company circularity and the achievement of certifications and sustainability declarations.

If you would also like to contribute to this survey on the needs of companies in the Textile Clothing Fashion sector in terms of circular economy, we invite you to fill out a short questionnaire, which will allow us to expand the collection of concrete needs of companies and identify the services currently required by companies to increase their circularity, sustainability and competitiveness at Italian and European level.

  • riduzione dell’utilizzo delle risorse, dalla diminuzione della quantità̀ di materiale usato nella realizzazione di un prodotto o nella fornitura di un servizio all’eco-design, puntando su modelli di condivisione e sullo sviluppo della digitalizzazione;
  • allungamento dell’utilizzo delle risorse, ottimizzando l’uso delle risorse e aumentando la vita del prodotto attraverso un design durevole, il ricorso a materiali e servizi che prolungano la vita dei beni, il riutilizzo, la riparazione e la rigenerazione;
  • utilizzo di materie prime rigenerative, sostituendo i combustibili fossili e i materiali non rinnovabili con energie e materiali rinnovabili;

  • introdurre tecniche e metodi che favoriscano la riduzione degli scarti dell’industria Tessile Abbigliamento Moda per valorizzare/trasformare gli scarti di lavorazione in risorse e materie prime seconde;
  • migliorare i processi di riutilizzo e di riciclo dei materiali e dei prodotti tessili a fine vita con lo scopo di prevenire il consumo delle risorse non rinnovabili, in una logica di innovazione per la sostenibilità;
  • fornire alle aziende basi normative, procedurali e legali per affrontare la gestione degli scarti industriali, sottoprodotti e rifiuti;
