[:en] For information on trainee profiles, contact the Training Area: Author: Paola Tambani Training Dept. It ended in January the fourth edition of the IFTS course – “Innovation Textiles & New Materials” proposed within the ITS Cosmo Foundation (www.itscosmo.it), with the aim of responding to the demand of the business world for young technicians for the textile, fashion, technical textiles and new materials supply chain.
The course, with a total duration of 1,000 hours, carried out as part of the initiatives promoted by the Operational Program of the Lombardy Region co-financed by the European Social Fund, falls within the type “IFTS – Higher Technical Education and Training” and has allowed the 15 students who attended (graduates within 29 years) to acquire in-depth knowledge of materials, processes and all aspects related to the design and industrialization of products consistent with the protocols required by the market or determined by the company itself.
The training has addressed some strands of research and innovation oriented to the “cross fertilization” between industrial sectors, thus deepening processes, innovative materials (biodegradable, recyclable, for example) and performance, for the development of new functionalities of the textile product, even in combination with leather and hide.
At the end of the course, the title issued is the Certificate of Higher Technical Specialization level IV EQF (European Qualifications Framework – common European reference framework that connects the qualification systems of different countries).
Seven of the fifteen certified students have already been placed in the world of work; interviews are underway for the others.
In December, instead, the project “FutureTEX: the circular, bio and digital textile of the future” was concluded; an innovative training path also realized within the initiatives promoted by the Operational Program of the Lombardy Region co-financed by the European Social Fund (Notice “Lombardia Plus 2019/20 – Smart Line”) and addressed to unemployed young people, within 35 years, with a diploma or a degree. The path was divided into 5 activities, for a total of 780 hours: a workgroup on the management of chemicals that provided for the achievement of the certification ZDHC “Chemical Management”; three workshops related to: Green Chemistry, Ecodesign and Smart-Textiles; a 500-hour course (of which 200 hours were dedicated to internships or individual project work) to acquire skills that can be used in research & development, design based on the circular economy, recycling and sustainable management of processes.
Also in this case six of the eleven students who have obtained the certification of skills are already working; for the others interviews are in progress.
